I took only a handful of pictures on our three-day weekend ... but it was fun, just the same. Tony took off work a couple hours early on Friday. I made a nice snack of hummus, guacamole, and tortilla chips. We did some last minute things around the house, packed up the car, and headed toward VA Beach area. First we stopped by my parents house ~ only mom was home. We told her "bye" and wished her an early birthday.
In the car, Tony drove as we listened to a mix of the "Doctrine" book by Driscoll, some audios by Doug Wilson, Generation Radio, and others. I crocheted pretty granny squares (I've made 25 squares so far) and we had some good conversation. Near the half way point we stopped to eat dinner at Chick-fi-la. We sat side by side in a booth and enjoyed our grilled sandwiches and waffle fries. :) And we both got a coffee to-go, knowing that we would be staying up into the wee hours of the morning.
We made it to the boardwalk by 9pm and met up with several friends there. It's always like a little reunion. :) Some were taking turns open air preaching, others passed out tracts, and engaged in one-to-one conversations. We, of course, joined in. After leaving the boardwalk, we all gathered at a long table at IHOP. Nothing like french toast and pancakes at 2am (I'm sooo glad that is not an everyday thing!!). We checked into our hotel around 4am and words can't describe how tired we were. ;)
We slept in Saturday morning, and the two of us went on a hunt for breakfast. We ended up going to the local Food Lion to purchase lots of fruit (cantaloupe, grapes, pineapple, bananas, and a bag of spinach). We brought it back to our room, washed it up, stored it in our little fridge, and that was our breakfast for the next three days. :) It was refreshing every morning! Early afternoon to late evening our group went back out to the boardwalk. Tony & I ended the night at Denny's.
Sunday morning, Tony & I enjoyed a nice walk along Buckroe Beach. The water felt so good! That afternoon we went to church with Marcus and listened to Pastor Kevin exposit a portion of Acts 8 - precious truths were proclaimed!! Then we joined the rest of the group on the boardwalk. Nathan, Mary, Patte, Katy, Russell, Tony & I took a little break to get some icecream/custard. It was a yummy treat!! As the clock struck midnight (or somewhere around there) we all gathered into a local Denny's for a late supper. I had a great time chatting with Mary G. and Katy G. about girly things!! :)
We checked out of our hotel Monday morning and headed on over to Don's house for a farewell cookout. I helped Mary prepare lots of sweet tea, pasta salad, and an awesome garden salad. We talked about a myriad of things. Those that are musically talented gathered around the piano and sang some hymns. It made for great background music. :) After our goodbyes, Tony & I headed back to our house. Home sweet home!!!
