Cheddar Cheese Biscuits

Tonight we had roasted acorn squash with a side salad and these very tasty cheese biscuits. I was instructed to not lose this recipe, so I decided to put it on the blog for safe keeping. Plus I have the joy of sharing it with you, my dear readers. I followed the recipe almost exactly, with one minor change - more cheese. May these bring many smiles around your dinner table... and your breakfast table, too. These make great egg biscuits - Tony tested&approved. This recipe makes six good-sized biscuits. :)

Ingredients
1 cup unbleached all-purpose flour
1 1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp garlic powder (optional)
1/2 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp cold butter
2/3 cup milk
Directions
  1. Preheat oven to 450°F. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl.
Stir in cheddar cheese until it is evenly coated with the flour mixture.
  2. Cut in butter using a pastry blender or 2 knives until coarse crumbs form.
(I grated the butter into the bowl and just mixed with my hands).
  3. Using a fork, stir milk into flour mixture until a soft dough forms.
Do not over mix or overwork dough.
  4. Drop dough in heaping tablespoons, 1 inch apart, onto an ungreased baking sheet.
Bake until biscuits are firm to the touch, about 10 minutes.
