Pickle Festival 2008

This past Saturday, we were able to go to the Mt. Olive Pickle Festival. For the past two years, we have rented a booth and stayed set up all day. This year we decided to just walk around the festival for a few hours. Let me say that God is so GOOD! He granted the folks here in eastern NC beautiful warm weather - which brought many people out to enjoy the festivities. We sought some releif from the heat under a shaded street corner. There was a steady flow of people walking by, so we were able to pass out many gospel tracts. We started to walk through the festival, and took notice of the booth that was set up in our normal location. The guys with Creation Science Exploration, an associate of Ken Ham's "Answer In Genesis" evangelism ministry, were there proclaiming the gospel. They had dinosaur fossils and replicas of Noah's Ark. It was very encouraging to see them there talking of the authority of God's Word!! And they were very joyful at this news too. :) We continued to walk through the festival and circled back around to our shaded corner. Tony decided to get his sandwich board out of the car. We went to a quieter part of the festival and Tony was able to do some open air preaching. Many people complimented the sign and came up to offer encouragment. At one point, I noticed a young boy walking by with a Living Waters million dollar bill in his hand. I asked him where he got that from and he pointed us toward the Spud Bag booth (you should check out his website; there are lots of really neat links there - and the pancakes are really comfortable). The founder was originally going to be set up at the Fayetteville Dogwood Festival, but because of their ruling stating that no religious organizations could take part in the festival, he instead decided to come to the pickle festival. And he was there passing out gospel tracts - very cool!! We were also dill-lighted to see Mark Hooks and his family out there passing out tracts as well! It's always encouraging to see other Christians partaking in the great commission!
