Words to a Friend Fighting Worry

Dearest friend,

"This is how to meet the hard and discouraging things in life. It is useless to fret over them. Fretting will never remove them, and it only weakens our energy and mars our life. But if we meet them with undismayed courage and persistent resolve, we shall conquer them, and in conquering them carve royalty of character and noble worth of ourselves."

This quote is taken from a chapter titled, Reasons Not to Worry, by J.R. Miller. There are 6 pages to this chapter, so make sure you press next at the bottom of the page. Miller is my favorite author. My heart is always encouraged, convicted, and motivated when I read the grace-filled words he penned many years ago.

Now this is the blog of Ann Voskamp (the lady who wrote One Thousand Gifts). I have a feeling that you will find many comforting words there!!! I challenge you to write down 10-20 things you are grateful for TODAY. Maybe have your children make a list of their own. May their praises increase your praises all the more! Praying much for you friend!!

With love,
Shayna

A Sunday in Charleston - Magnolia Plantations

While in Charleston we spent a good portion of our Sunday at Magnolia Plantations & Gardens. It was beautiful and I can only imagine how much more so it would be in Spring, Summer, and Fall. We had such a good time touring the gardens together and even took the tram ride which got us super close to some crocodiles. Pretty cool. :)

"Founded in 1676 by the Drayton family, Magnolia Plantation has survived the centuries and witnessed the history of our nation unfold before it from the American Revolution through the Civil War and beyond. It is the oldest public tourist site in the Lowcountry, and the oldest public gardens in America, opening its doors to visitors in 1870 to view the thousands of beautiful flowers and plants in its famous gardens. So join us here at Magnolia Plantation to experience the beauty of its gardens and its rich history today."
