Just the beginning

Yesterday I picked out some pretty yarn and started something new ... the final product is to be kept secret, as it will be graced with wrapping paper and ribbons for somebody's birthday. ;)  I can't wait 'til she opens it!

Last night, another somebody had a craving for neapolitan icecream. I had planned to run some errands this morning, but instead I went to town last night. And a couple hours later came home with the icecream in tow. We scooped it out into our frozen glass mugs and enjoyed it greatly. It was oh so creamy! I'm thinking it would have made for a pretty picture ~ the pink, white, and chocolate all piled in a frosted mug ~ but I didn't think of it then. So just imagine...

Here's a picture of me snuggled next to my amazing husband! We were trying to take a picture together and didn't realize the camera was zoomed in. But I love the picture all the same. It's a happy place ~ the arms of my beloved! My bestest friend!

I'll leave you with something I read yesterday by the late J.R. Miller; "The Bible is the Word of God, our Father’s will concerning his children; and it has something to say each day, at every point of experience, to every one of us." Every area of life, my friends!!

P.S. It's also the beginning of a three-day weekend!!  I hope all my readers have a marvelous time!! :)

Carrots in the morning, and in the afternoon

Carrot juice for breakfast = carrot cake for dessert!

Bridesmaids

Saturday morning I met up with the pretty bridesmaids and the bride herself to get fitted for our dresses. (My sweet husband and Joey were there too). Sadly, two of the girls weren't able to make it. :(  Chrissie instructed all of us to "wear somethig blue, like turquoise or royal blue." Several pictures were taken and Chrrissie has some great plan up her sleeve. I am anticipating the final result. ** I hope to post more pictures from this day, as I recieve them.

Passionate Housewives

"Being keepers at home is about focusing upon the Lord in all the everydayness so that our houses become centers of hospitality, forgiveness, training, business, welfare, charity, shared mourning and celebration, and - oh, yes - lots of tracked-in mud, crumbs under the chairs, and everything else that goes with human beings. We must not lose sight of the fact that our homes are God-given tools to bless others."

"We must view serving our families as acts of service to God,
rather than as acts that "get in the way" of serving him."

"The happy bride of the Song of Solomon rejoices to array herself for her husband with delights that include sweet perfume, beautiful hair, and even scarlet lips that open in comely speech. She decks her home with lovely things, knowing that they bring joy to others and create an atmosphere of rest and well-being. We're not talking about home decorating on steroids here -- just about the wonderful opportunity we have to reflect our Creator's eye for beauty in everything we touch. What a great privilege and honor!"

"Biblical womanhood is challenging, intelligent, adventurous, kingdom-building, whole-hearted hard work. It encompasses all kinds of gifts and talents and provides us with an outlet for genuinely purposeful creativity and effort -- all within the realm of the fully functioning Christian home."

Quotes above are from "Passionate Housewives Desperate for God", which I was able to finish reading last week. :) This week has been filled with rainy days. Which was great for the garden (and the many weeds). I went out side this morning, as the sun was shining brightly to pull the weeds out of the garden and our little rock pathway. Now the bigger project is smiling at me ~ mowing the yard. I will say that I am sooo happy to see the centipede grass creeping and overtaking our yard. The patches are beautiful!

We Surprised Her

...Our pretty Mommy!! This was right when she discovered the surprise ~ right after we shouted "Happy Mother's Day." And right before we went over for a group hug. :) So what did she see when she walked outside Sunday evening?

Well, let me back track just a little bit. Friday us sisters got together to purchase all the necessary ingredients. Pretty decorations, lunch at Scholotskys, and yummy food. Yes, the lunch was necessary. Ha! The brothers contributed money and us girls filled them in on the plan. ;)

Then we got together again Saturday evening to make some pretty strawberry preserve cupcakes and print a few pictuers. Fun girl time!!

*Notice the pineapple in the background ... that was part of the plan too. :)

On Sunday, we told mom to stay inside {no peeking out the windows} while we decorated our picnic area with lots of pretty things. Like these fun to make tissue paper pom poms...

flowers and other things...

Even the food was pretty!! Dad grilled chicken, veggies, and pineapple. I also made potatoe salad and cheddar cheese biscuits. It was all very, very good!

Here she comes...

As the darkness of night came in, we gathered around the picnic table and ate our tiki-light dinner. ;) It was so much fun!! A celebration of our precious Mom!!! I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for her (and dad)!  After dinner, we cleaned up the outside area and went inside for cupcakes, coffee, and the finale of Amazing Race.
