Lots of Water

  • A seven hour boat ride on the Neuse River
  • Swimming at Tony's parents house
  • Four hours of fishing from Johnny Mercer's Pier at Wrightsville Beach
  • Getting drenched from the rain at the beach
  • And a water spout

  • Saturday morning we set our little boat in at the Seven Springs
bridge went upstream a few miles. Then we slowly drifted back
down to our starting point. We had so much fun - just us on the
river, surrounded by God's beautiful creation! It was nice!

This was our handy-dandy anchor that we
put together real quick. Some string & a brick. :)

Tony preparing a path for me to walk on. :)

    Looks like a secret garden.

    A baby bass.

Sunday, we went with my parents to the beach.
It was overcast most of the day, but the guys
were able to get in about 4 hours of pier fishing
before it started to pour rain! We were all soaked!!

Dad caught several sets of these baby spots.

    Seaweed. :)

    One guy caught this barracuda.

Storm clouds rolling in & a water spout forming.

    This caused lots of excitement!!
You can watch the video footage
below to see the spout in action.

Wake Up Call & Blueberry Jam

At about 6am this morning we woke up to this loud horrible continuous screeching sound. It was a cricket in our bedroom. :0 So I get out of bed and try to find the little culprit. After shuffling some things around, the cricket finally decides to show his face. I have a cup in one hand and am using a napkin to try and guide him into the cup. He was a feisty critter! He kept running and jumping away from the cup. I was getting a little frustrated and told Tony, "Every time he gets near the cup, he runs away." Tony just laughed and said, "Well, how would you like it if a big cup was coming after you? You'd probably run away too." Hahaha. It was so funny!!! Well, after about 8 minutes, I finally managed to get him in the cup with the napkin covering it so he wouldn't jump out. Then I threw him out the front door to join the rest of his screeching buddies. :) Then we went back to sleep!!!

Mr. David Vann allowed mom and I to pick blueberries at his house yesterday afternoon. (Yay!) This afternoon I made blueberry freezer jam and sometime soon I'm going to fix a blueberry cobbler. Yummy!

    My Prayer Journal

Prayer is the sovereign medicine of the soul.
It is the dispeller of sorrow:
by venting the grief it eases the heart.
    --Thomas Watson
When my heart is heavy, sad, confused, and hurting; when my mind just can't seem to rest, prayer is sovereign medicine to my soul. When I was in highschool, my art teacher showed me her prayer journal - just a simple notebook where she would write down her conversations with God. I thought it was the neatest thing and decided to start my own prayer journal. Now five years later I still keep a prayer journal. Some pages are marked with much joy and hope, whereas others have stains of tear drops and scribbly writing. It seems that I am able to focus more and articulate my thoughts better when I write it down. By venting my grief it eases my heart. I find hope and rest in HIM! It is also very interesting to go back and read through some of my prayers from a few years ago... I can see how God has answered prayers, how He has changed my will, how He has taught me and how He has drawn me closer to Himself.

    Enjoyin' Life

We were able to catch up on some sleep today and it was nice!! We went to bed early last night and slept until 9:30am. We had a bowl of cereal for breakfast, then started gathering notes for Tony's sociology paper. Then came time for a break! We turned on some music and danced around the house, just being silly and enjoying each other. :) When the music got soft we noticed that it was pouring down rain. I urged Tony how much fun it would be to play in the rain... so we got some clothes on that we didn't mind getting wet... but by the time we stepped outside it had stopped pouring and it was only a very light sprinkle. :( So instead we walked around the yard, pulled up some weeds, then went to the front faucet to rinse off our hands. As I was rinsing my hands I splashed Tony with water... and that began our water fight. :) We were both soaked! :D We were enjoying life. Enjoying each other.
